Dr. Deanna Simonson, licensed naturopathic physician, is one of the most highly trained NeuroCranial Restructuring® Doctors in the world, and has been personally endorsed by Dr. Dean Howell. Having experienced this modality first-hand from it’s originator, Dr. Dean Howell, for a period of six years prior to being trained by Dr. Howell in 2009, she is intimately acquainted with NCR on every level of her being (click hereto read her personal story of how she was led to NCR). In addition to being trained in NCR, she has spent hundreds of hours in observation of Dr. Howell working with patients, and has taken additional private training in NCR bodywork with Dr. Hillary Lampers and Derek Howell and has traded with other trained and experienced NCR practitioners in order to truly master this modality. In 2011, she received advanced training in NCR cranial techniques from Dr. Howell, and was also trained in the use of Dr. Howell’s FaceMax helmet device, an innovative solution to facial collapse from dental extractions and physical degeneration. Recently she completed training with Dr. Dave Singh in epigenetic orthodontics to better understand use of expansion appliances in hopes of collaborating with epigenetic orthodontists and combining treatment approaches.
Dr. Simonson received her doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 2009. While obtaining her doctorate degree, she immersed herself in the study of both classical homeopathy and German Biological Medicine. Prior to naturopathic school, in 2003 she obtained a bachelor's of science in nutritional science from U. Wisconsin-Madison, with a double major in cello performance. She has also recently completed training from the Loomis Institute of Enzyme Nutrition as an advanced enzyme practitioner in addition to becoming a Certified Loomis Digestive Health Specialist. She has also been trained in other rare techniques such as live and dried blood cell analysis, and is currently receiving training in German New Medicine, a system of medicine created by Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer which recognizes all disease as a healing mechanism of the body in response to a shock or trauma.
Dr. Simonson strongly believes in the importance of proper nutrition for building and maintaining structural integrity. Her "bible" is Dr. Weston Price's book, "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration." If human beings were to eat according to nature, Dr. Simonson believes we would be spared much of our physical ailments, and modern orthodontia would be made completely unnecessary. But given the sad fact that our human race is structurally degenerating due to poor diet and environmental toxins, Dr. Simonson is excited to offer a solution to this growing problem. With a combination of NeuroCranial Restructuring® (NCR), individualized enzyme nutritional programs, and natural detoxification and organ rebalancing through the use of highly effective German biological medicines, she is in the perfect position to reverse the effects of structural degeneration and return human beings to our original structural blueprints, the way we were intended to be. By perfecting structural symmetry and expanding the structure to its full capacity, she believes this in turn is improving genetic expression. Recently, she has received training in the field of epigenetic orthodontics through Dr. Dave Singh, inventor of the DNA appliance (a palate expansion device), and is very excited to collaborate with epigenetic orthodontists for a whole-body approach to correcting bite problems.
Born and raised in Madison, WI, Dr. Simonson was interested in becoming a doctor from an early age. Surrounded by illness (a father with Bipolar Disorder, a younger sister with pyelonephritis requiring 3 childhood surgeries), she had a natural inclination to try to make things whole again and a desire to heal others. This innate desire, combined with her own personal health struggles, led her to embark on the study of medicine, which she recognizes as a life long commitment and ever growing endeavor.
In addition to her passion for medicine and healing, Dr. Simonson's other main big passions are music and dance. Raised by two musical parents--her father, a professionally trained pianist, and her mother, a vocalist, she began singing at the age of 3. She started playing the cello at age 9, which led her to play solo with the youth orchestra (of Madison, WI, where she grew up) at age 17, and then studying professionally in college and playing actively in the UW symphony and chamber ensembles. While in Oregon, she has subbed for the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra. She now is excited to collaborate with other musicians and is involved in several music recording projects, which include both her singing and cello playing. In 2011, she began intensely studying and practicing a unique art-form called contact improvisational dance. She is most fascinated by the inter-relationship between human structure and artistic movement and creative expression. Her passion is to facilitate the highest possible expression of human structural and creative potential.
Dr. Simonson is a lover of nature and enjoys hikes in Portland's beautiful parks (esp. visiting the waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge), loves all things metaphysical, and immensely enjoys time with her lovely friends and kindred spirits.

Philosophy on Healing and Medicine
The body has an innate ability to heal itself. I am an avid believer in the healing potential of the human organism, and any creature of nature, for that matter. The human body has an amazing ability to compensate for its imbalances in an attempt to restore homeostasis....the body's adaptability and extreme tolerance to what is unnatural never ceases to amaze me. It really takes quite a bit of insult for the body to finally break down to the point where pathology prevails over physiology. Even still, I believe that there is no disease a person cannot heal from, no matter how severe or advanced, if they have the intense desire to heal and their vital force is strong enough. There is only one disease, and that is DIS-ease, or imbalance of the human organism.
These imbalances can occur for a variety of reasons. There are some things we are born with (due to faulty genetics and pre-birth environmental conditions), some are caused by the birthing process, and some occur as we live our lives. When we are either not in touch with or we suppress our emotions, or we hide our true desires from ourselves, sometimes our body has no choice but to express these things for us. The illness will always manifest as the perfect illustration or metaphor for what we denied ourselves experience of on a soul level. Put in another way, imbalance occurs when there is a conflict between the ego and the High Self, or between the conscious mind and the unconscious /subconscious / superconscious minds. If it were not for the human ego that sees itself as separate from all things and from nature, we would not live in such disharmony; the humanspecies has drifted so far from being aligned with nature....we are fighting against nature.
While there are some things you were born with or circumstances about your body you cannot change, you must always do the best with what you have been given. It is of utmost importance that your physical structure be brought up to the highest level it can be, because you will have this body for the rest of your life. In order to reach higher states of consciousness and evolve as a species on this planet, we must have bodies that are in peak, pristine condition. It is my pride and joy to aid human beings in this process, and I have some amazing tools to help you accomplish this. By improving your structural integrity from head down, improving gut function, restoring nutritional deficiencies, improving diet, and establishing a healthy lifestyle in accordance with how humans were meant to live on this planet, we can get you to a point of optimum health and well being. We also need to get you back in touch with that deepest part of yourself, the part that feels safe, loved, nurtured and at home. When you are in this place, you will become aligned with nature and with life circumstances that will bring you great joy.
As a holistic physician, I want to empower you to take action of your own life and health. I cannot heal you, only you can, along with the innate Healing Power inside of You. I am only a facilitator. I want to help you get unstuck, overcome pain and chronic ailments, get in tune with your body, mind, and Spirit, become aligned with Nature again, and reach optimum health and well-being to become the person you were designed to be. There IS a perfect blueprint of your body that was designed for you and only you, and we can help you get to it....you have to believe it exists and that you can get to it. I will work hard for you, but you must be ready to make a commitment to your own health and have trust in the process. My deepest desire is to create true harmony and deep beauty in the world, and I desire to take healing to a place of deep beauty inside the soul. When we are in touch with ourselves on the soul level, this beauty opens up to us and Life can crack through at every moment.
The process of becoming a Healer is much different than simply becoming a doctor. A true healer has to first heal themselves and their inner wounding. I have had to learn hard lessons. I had to re-live my early childhood wounding and heal myself completely from it. I had to get to the point where I could appreciate my childhood, as dysfunctional as it was, and could realize there is no other childhood I would have rather had, and no other life I would rather be living than my own. I had to entirely re-evaluate my initial desire or compulsion to heal others. I had to learn that it is not my obligation to heal others at all. My only job is to bring my Light into the world and walk with others on the Path to Healing. I also had to learn that life is perfect exactly the way it is, illness and all. There is no need to "fix" anything because everything that is occurring in your life is perfect and is meant to be, and everything occurs with perfect timing. Illness is already the organism's own attempt at correcting/bringing light to the situation. The last thing a healer would want to do is to take away the illness. This is not to say you should have to live with pain and illness forever, but you first must accept it into your experience and see it as a doorway to a new, Higher Reality.
